We were for some time convinced that this plant was Orthophytum sanguineum but when the Orthophytum genus was reexamined by Louzada and Wanderley this taxa was shifted to Sincoraea and combined with S. burlemarxii. We are disappointed with this outcome as the plant does appear to us to be quite different but alas we must abide with the taxonomists for now. The
